New Haven
Home to Yale University, New Haven combines intellectual energy with historic charm. The legendary thin crust pizza is at Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana. Stroll the historic neighborhoods and visit the theater or music venues for an unforgettable day.

Best Small Town in Connecticut
Mystic
Mystic feels like a postcard of coastal New England. It’s why I came and fell in love with Connecticut. There’s a drawbridge as you enter the town on cobblestone streets, and that’s enough for me to write a storybook setting. The sailboats are in the harbor, and the Mystic Pizza sign (1988 RomCom with Julia Roberts) is blinking at you down the street. It took all of five minutes before I wanted to live here.

With its historic seaport, waterfront shops, and coastal atmosphere, Mystic captures the essence of maritime New England. Strolling through its village streets and waterfront areas feels like stepping into another era.

The Old Mistick Village shopping plaza has strange and delightful stores in an 18-century Village. The Mystic Aquarium is also here, so plan for an entire day.

I would like to take a second and thank my mom and Aunt Teena for letting me jump into their Girl’s Trip to New England. These girls visited Mystic, Connecticut, so I could mark it off my bucket list. I’ll always remember having late-night Mystic Drawbridge Ice Cream, which has been homemade since the 1800s.

- Beardsley Zoo is small and focuses on North and South American wildlife, including red wolves, bison, and Andean bears.
